ORRA Elects 2013 Board of Directors
At the January 2013 Annual Membership meeting, the Oak Ridge Rowing Association elected two new Board members: Risa Freeman and Donna Lambert-Lusinger. Please be sure to congratulate them!
New Executive Director Bill Garland
The Oak Ridge Rowing Association is pleased to announce that Bill Garland
) has joined the organization as Executive Director.
Bill will oversee all aspects of Club operations, and brings a high degree of organization, enthusiasm and years of rowing experience to the job. Allen will report to Bill, and Bill will report to the Board.
He has already begun the work of getting the boathouse in order and planning our winter equipment maintenance—so if you have been to the the boathouse recently, you’ve already seen some of his work.
Please join us in welcoming Bill to this new job, and let’s all do everything we can to help him succeed.
ORRA Ladies on the Men’s 8 to come down the course
This from Bob Leicht: Here’e the pic I mentioned to you. It’s staged, as Nancy wanted to capture the reflecting trees, so I put a Peinert in the water and rowed back and forth a couple times.
It’s also a joke between Allen and me ‘cuz as a new rower I couldn’t understand how I wasn’t getting more speed. Allen happened to see the pic and he said, “Your hands are too high.” I was burying my oars/shafts.
Need some help this Thursday after work ( 6:00 pm)
We need just a little more help for about 2 hours.
Bob Leicht is leading the charge on cleaning up the last of the buoys, getting them bundled and transported the the conex. He is looking for help on Thursday July 5 starting at 5pm. With enough hands on deck, we can get the buoys scrubbed and prepped for transport by 6pm. Once that is done, we can clean out the launches as well as get a quick police call around the boathouse to clean up.
Please come down to help.
Many thanks to all who helped retrieve the course over the past couple of weeks. It has been retrieved in near record time and that is awesome!!
We had a good crew show up on Saturday to help ORRA President and Coach Joe Carlson get moved and settled into his new home. He rewarded us with lunch and, what else, cold beer!
As an added bonus, Joe shared this picture of himself in a tutu with his fellow lifeguards from his past—-!
Team photo at the USRowing Southeast Masters Regional Championships. ORRA was well-represented (check out the bling!) in both Aiken, SC and Richmond, Va, where Mike and Nancy Schay earned a mixed 2x gold this weekend at the Rockett’s Landing Regatta.
